Top Most Popular and Beautiful Places in Darjeeling
 The name Darjeeling is taken from a Tibetan word 'dorje'. The "Queen of Hills" Darjeeling is the most popular tourist destination in northeast India. It situated on the foot of Kanchenjunga. Darjeeling famous for the tea gardens, magnificent view of the Himalayas, Kanchenjunga peak, beautiful valleys and many more.

  So let's explore Darjeeling together.

  1. Darjeeling Himalayan Railway :- Darjeeling Himalayan Railway also known as the toy train or DRH. It one of the famous railway track in India.




It starts from Jalpaiguri railway station and goes up to Ghoom railway station then take a break and back to Darjeeling.There are two types of train available which is Steamed Engine and Diesel Engine. Now the choice is yours. Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was a world Heritage site by UNESCO.

 2. Tiger Hill :- Tiger Hill is the 13KM away from Darjeeling. Tiger Hill is the most famous for it's splendid sights of Sunrise. It 2590 meters above from Sea level.


Every morning many muffler wrapped tourists start a procession towards the sightseeing spot to see the light break over a vast 250KM expanse of the Himalayan Mountain. Kanchenjunga's beauty can be felt only seeing it from this viewpoint.

 3. Darjeeling Rope way :- Darjeeling Rungeet Valley Passenger Rope way was first installed in 1968. Darjeeling Rope way one of Asia's greatest traveler rope ways and India's earliest and first Traveler Rope way is the "Darjeeling Rope way".

Rope way station is situated at Singamari which is 3KM away from Chowk Bazaar and 4KM away from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. It's entry fee RS :- 90 for children & RS :- 175 for Adults.

 4. Batasai Loop :- Batasia Loop is situated 5KM from Darjeeling, below Ghoom. Batasia means airy space and it can be an amazing experience to witness the toy train making complete loop while whistling along the way and trying to negotiate the spiral track with a double loop. It built to honor the freedom fighters and the various wars fought post- independance. 


A beautiful view of the Kanchenjunga range along with a small market selling locally produced goods makes for a perfect way to spend some time and it's perfect for Photography, so don't forget to carry your Camera.

 5. Happy Valley Tea Estate :- Nothing gives me more pleasure then enjoying a nice cup of tea. Happy Valley Tea Estate was established in 1854. It was Darjeeling second oldest tea estate. It situated at a height of 2100 meters above sea level, 3KM north of Darjeeling. 
 


 Happy Valley Tea Estate visiting time 9:30AM to 4:30PM. It is quite popular among travelers for obvious reasons. Watching the actual process of making tea manufacturing. When you go here you can buy some packed of tea.

 6. Japanese Pace Pagoda :- The first peace Pagoda was built in Kumamoto, Japan in the year 1954. It is the tallest structure in Darjeeling with a height of 28.5 meters. 
 A peace Pagoda is essentially a Buddhist Stupa that is meant to inspire feelings of peace and harmony among people of all religions and races. There are beautiful artwork to look at.
 Another popular thing to do at the Japanese Pace Pagoda is to go right to the top of the Pagoda to admire the magnificent views. There is a peace Pagoda just adjacent to this temple which displays the four avatars of the founder of Buddhism, the Lord Buddha. The temple is open to public view from 4:30AM to 7:00PM, there is no entry fee.

  7. Ghoom Monastery :- Ghoom monastery is situated just opposite to the Batasia Loop. Ghoom Monastery is also known as Yiga Choeling Monastery. This monastery has a 15ft tall status of Maitreye Buddha. This monastery has a lot of history behind it and you have to know. 


A little closer to Darjeeling on the some road is the Sonada Gompa. This place also has a very good market where you can buy the purses, bags and other decorative items. The morke or many Buddhist woman sells Tibetan handicrafts and religious objects. I will advice you to visit this area either early morning or late evening to get a beautiful memories.


 8. Sandakphu :- Sandakphu is the highest peak of West Bengal. It 3630meters above the sea level. It is a part of Singalila Ridge, that marks the border between India and Nepal. Trekking at Sandakphu is the only way to reach Sandakphu. 

Usually it takes 2-3 days from the Maneybhanjan village in Darjeeling to reach Sandakphu. One unique feature of this trek is that it is the only place from where you can view all the four highest peaks of the Himalayas- Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu. This family of peaks is famously called " The sleeping Buddha". So if you love trekking then it is the perfect place for you.

 9. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoo :- It is the largest high altitude zoo in India, which situated in the town of Darjeeling. The zoo serves as the central hub for central Zoo Authority of India's Red Panda program and is a member of the world Association of zoos and Aquarium. It is the main tourist attraction in Darjeeling. The park attracts animal lovers.


The nature has come to admire the beautiful Himalayan environment. There are the Asiatic black bear, barking deer, yellow Macaw, Himalayan Monal and many more. Overall the zoo is the exceptional beauty of the Himalayan regions.

 10. Mall Road & Chowrasta :- Darjeeling Mall or Chowrasta is the heart of Darjeeling town. It is located on the top of Nehru Road and no vehicle are allowed in and nearby Darjeeling Mall. So you can simply walk around the mall. It is dotted with many shops and restaurants 

 People have assemble to chat. The Bradbourne park in Chowrasta features a musical fountain, the sight of which is enjoyed by many. So if you in Darjeeling then don't forget to walk at Mall Road.
